As widgets are integrated in WordPress 2.2, I’ve updated this theme which should fix all the problems mentioned in the comments.
I took Eli’s great adoption 2813 of Paul and Neil‘s 281, added the widgets and Chris option to display posts from all categories on the frontpage.
1. Download 2813 widgetized, unzip and upload it to your WordPress theme-folder.
Please be patient, I’ll release a new version of my adoption in late september.
2. Download the widgets-plugin, upload and activate it.
(Widgets are now included in WordPress.)
3. Open home.php under themes/2813widgetized/ and look for showposts=3 on line 4 – change the “3″ to the number of posts you want to display on the frontpage.
4. Start to add widgets from the Presentation (or “Themes” when using a lokalized WordPress) tab.
5. You’re done.

But the “Sidebar Widget”-tab isn’t shown, so I can’t use it so far to include widgets… (using WP v2.0.6)
I’m running 2.0.5 and the latest widgets-plugin:
Everything shows up just like expected.
You’ve installed the automattic-plugin, right?
Yes indeed, version 1.0.20060711 of the Sidebar Widgets that is (taken from your mentioned link above).
Even I am not able to get the Sidebar widgets.
Please recheck if you’ve attached the correct files!

bin grad mitm Blog am umziehen und hab mir grad euer 2813-Theme installiert. Problem: Auf der Startseite werden gar keine Posts angezeigt… In der home.php hab ich aber bei “showposts=10″ editiert.

dieses Problem tritt leider manchmal auf – hast Du mal versucht den Wert auf 50 zu stellen?
Leider muss man teilweise einen sehr viel höheren Wert angeben als man anzeigen will, womit das genau zu tun hat…

Wenn du nicht weißt, wieso das auftritt, weißt du wohl leider auch nicht, was man dagegen tun kann? :/
Ich bin leider noch auf der Arbeit und kann grade nicht in den Code sehen – ist eine Zeile in der Art von
< ?php if (!(in_category('3'))) continue; ?>in der home.php?
Falls ja legt die “3″ fest welche Kategorie auf der Startseite angezeigt wird – das müsstest Du dann in die Kategorie ändern die Du anzeigen willst.
Falls nein musst Du leider noch warten bis ich reinsehen kann, dann kann ich Dir die Lösung auf jeden Fall sagen.
Nun ja, ich will aber nicht nur eine Kategorie auf der Startseite haben, sondern die Beiträge, wie sie geschrieben wurden- auch in unterschiedlichen Kategorien
Ja, in diesem Fall kommt die if… Schleife raus – ich weiß nur grade nicht aus dem Kopf ob sie in dem Theme hier drin ist oder nicht.

Es werden dann zwar die Einträge angezeigt… Aber dann gibt es noch keine Funktion, um auf die nächste Seite zu gehen (also unten, am Seitenende).
